Fire Me Up Ceramics is an independent group of artists working in a common studio space in the NOTO Arts & Entertainment District in Topeka, Kansas. We showcase art, host community events and exhibitions while providing affordable studio space and clay classes.
Our unique location in the NOTO Arts & Entertainment District is home to the First Friday Artwalk and is adjacent to the NOTO Arts Center. With studio spaces for artists and creative professionals, we offer a unique environment that encourages innovation, collaboration and experimentation.
It is our mission to engage the community, support artists in the creative process and provide space for artists to create new work. At Fire Me Up Ceramics in Topeka, we share the appreciation of art as part of everyday life through educational pottery classes, events, artist residency programs and exhibitions. We welcome everyone to learn and share their experience from beginners, children, teens and adults, to seasoned artists.
Fire Me Up Ceramics is a 3750 sq ft art studio/event/classroom space located at the corner of Gordon and North Kansas Ave. We are currently under construction to update the building amenities and improve the atmosphere and lighting, both natural and electrical.
Juried regional, national and international shows will be held in the Sage Crossing Gallery area located in front portion of the south room. With an open floor plan this (soon to be newly renovated space) will feature central air, personal and community workspace, kitchen/bar and 2 restrooms. High ceilings, windows, and lighting will create an airy space for the studio, events, workshops, classes and more.
This unique communal facility holds up to 14 studio member/rental spaces and 30 shelf space rentals. We encourage all types of clay creations, and artists are invited to exhibit work in their studio spaces on an ongoing basis on First Friday art walks. Studio members are able to work 24/7 with unlimited access. We do require that all members utilize the facility in an independent manner with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness and respect for the other artists.
A native of Topeka, Kansas, ceramic artist Monette Mark explores the tactility and sensuality of clay through sculpture and utilitarian forms, while incorporating different materials into her final installations. Monette began ceramics and painting as a teen, then moved into graphic design creating illustrations for McGraw-Hill in New York City. Coming full circle back to Kansas, she cemented her love of clay by attaining her MFA from Wichita State University. After teaching ceramics for 8 years at Washburn University she wanted to share clay with the emerging arts community starting Fire Me Up Ceramics & Fine Art Studios in 2018
